Notes & sources

  1. Data quality rejects: typical share of raw records removed at import for missing names, overseas or insufficient addresses. The Software Bureau processing benchmark.
  2. PAF rejects: Royal Mail's Postcode Address File holds close to 30 million UK delivery addresses; partial and non-matches typically affect a low single-digit percentage of a maintained file.
  3. Duplicates: industry research finds duplication of 10–30% in databases without active data quality programmes and best-in-class rates below 2% (Experian; CRM data quality benchmarks). The default reflects a typical individual-level rate on a maintained consumer file.
  4. Deceased: more than 600,000 people die in the UK each year (Office for National Statistics); unscreened databases accumulate deceased contacts over time.
  5. Gone aways: around 7 million people change address in the UK each year (UK home-mover suppression data).
